An extraordinarily gentle, hands-on therapy that releases restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve central nervous system function.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a subtle yet profound form of bodywork that addresses the craniosacral system — the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using an extremely light touch, generally no greater than the weight of a small coin, the practitioner monitors the rhythmic motion of this system and uses gentle techniques to release restrictions that may be causing sensory, motor, or neurological dysfunction. Developed by osteopathic physician John Upledger, CST is particularly effective for conditions that have not responded to other therapies: chronic migraines, TMJ dysfunction, post-concussion syndrome, and stress-related disorders. For clients who are highly sensitive or who find conventional massage overstimulating, craniosacral therapy offers a pathway to profound relaxation without the intensity of deeper work.
